Khalil Mack Injury: Not Season-Ending
Los Angeles Chargers outside linebacker Khalil Mack suffered an injury to his left elbow during the Week 2 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. However, a source confirmed that the injury is not serious enough to end the season.
Mack was injured while attempting a tackle in the first quarter. His left hand got trapped between Chargers linebacker Troy Dye and Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker, leading to an awkward position of his elbow.
After the play, Mack left the field clutching his left hand and showing signs of pain. Subsequently, he went to the locker room.
In the second quarter, Mack returned to the Chargers’ bench with his elbow bandaged and in a sling. Despite the injury, he managed a sack and a tackle in the game.
Mack, who played his first four seasons of his career with the Raiders, has 12.5 career sacks against Las Vegas, the most for any player against a single opponent since 2021.
The 34-year-old player signed a one-year, $18 million contract in March, opting to return to Los Angeles despite considering retirement after the 2024 season.
With Mack absent, outside linebacker Caleb Murphy had more playing time, participating in 31 defensive plays and recording a quarterback pressure.
