OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lamar Jackson solidified himself as the best running quarterback last season by surpassing Michael Vick in career rushing yards for the position. The Baltimore Ravens coach, John Harbaugh, believes that Jackson should also be among the best passers of all time.

He’s historically a good passer.

Harbaugh added: “Lamar Jackson can throw the ball. He can throw it in all ways, he can make all kinds of throws the way you want. He’s as good as any passer that has existed, and I think the numbers are showing it now.” Last season, Jackson became the first player in NFL history to throw at least 40 touchdown passes and fewer than five interceptions in a season. His passer rating of 119.6 last season ranked as the fourth-highest in league history. Jackson’s four games with a perfect passer rating (158.3) are the most in NFL history. He has also accumulated seven career games in which he has recorded more touchdown passes than incomplete passes, which are the most in NFL history. A Harbaugh was asked how Jackson reached this elite level.

I would say that the work you do, if you’re going to be good at something, great at something, you have to work at it all the time.

Harbaugh continued: “I read a story recently about a classical pianist, he’s 95 years old, and he works six to eight hours a day playing the piano, and they ask him: ‘Why do you keep working six to eight hours on the piano?’ And his comment was: ‘I feel like I’m just starting to make progress’. “So, that daily work on your craft, I think, is what makes Lamar.”
