Deep Dive into Fantasy Football Draft Strategies

Rankings are a crucial starting point for building successful fantasy football teams. However, the draft goes beyond following a simple list; it involves strategy, analysis, and a touch of luck. The results can vary significantly, even when repeating the process immediately. Therefore, a team of analysts from Alofoke Deportes dedicated themselves to performing multiple simulations to offer you a detailed view.

For a month, each analyst had the opportunity to participate in two drafts from each position in a 10-team league. 34 simulations were carried out, with rotations to ensure availability and add variety to the selections. The results obtained were meticulously recorded and used to inform Alofoke Deportes’ draft rankings.

Here’s a summary of the data collected from nearly 200 selected players during this exercise.
  • Pos Rank: Player’s position in the overall ranking for their position.
  • ADP: Average draft position, calculated from 34 simulations.
  • High: The highest pick in which a player was selected.
  • Low: The lowest pick in which a player was selected. “ND” indicates that the player was not selected in at least one draft.
  • Preferred by: The Alofoke Deportes analyst who selected the player most frequently. The percentage of drafts in which they were selected is indicated in parentheses. The 20 most recent drafts were considered, each with two picks from each of the 10 draft positions.
  • Preferred ADP: The average draft position in which the selected analyst chose the player, with the same restriction as in the “Preferred By” category.
The participating analysts (in alphabetical order): Stephania Bell, Matt Bowen, Mike Clay, Tristan H. Cockcroft, Daniel Dopp, Tyler Fulghum, Eric Karabell, Liz Loza, Eric Moody, and Field Yates. Additionally, fantasy editors Pierre Becquey, Keith Lipscomb, and Joe Kaiser participated in the drafts, along with Alofoke Deportes Stats & Information researchers Mackenzie Kraemer, Kevin Pulsifer, and Daniel Ayotte, when not all 10 analysts were available. The following is a list of the most selected players by each analyst in their 20 most recent mock drafts: three quarterbacks, eight running backs, eight receivers, and two in each tight end, kicker, and defense position. The average draft position in which they were selected is included. Each list is organized by position and by the most selected player, regardless of their average draft position.
