Jaxson Dart Takes Responsibility After Giants Loss
Young quarterback Jaxson Dart, after a promising debut in his first start with the New York Giants, experienced a harsh reality in his second game, taking the blame for the three turnovers that contributed to the 26-14 loss against the New Orleans Saints. The Giants, now with a 1-4 record, suffered five consecutive turnovers, a stretch that spanned from the end of the first half to the final quarter. Dart, with an incomplete pass and two interceptions, acknowledged his direct responsibility for the outcome.Dart completed 26 of 40 passes for 202 yards, with two touchdown passes and two interceptions. Despite a good start, the course of the game changed drastically in the second half.I told everyone I could in the locker room, this is my fault and I’m going to get better. I hope to play better in these games and win them.

The Giants’ decline began when Slayton dropped a deep pass and then lost the ball on the last play of the first half. Dart started the second half with a fumble after the Giants advanced near midfield. Skattebo then lost the ball on the first play of the final quarter, and it was returned 86 yards for a touchdown by Saints safety Jordan Howden. Dart threw interceptions on the following two possessions as the Giants attempted to rally. They ended the game with a turnover on their final possession.I think he fought. The game got away from us a bit because of those turnovers. Some easy ones too. One fell on us. Those kill you because you give up those points, I think 13 points, and they take away points when we’re on offense. Most were in the scoring zone or close to get at least a field goal. Again, sometimes we moved the ball well. But it’s difficult when you give the ball away.
Coach Brian Daboll
Slayton also acknowledged his part in the ball losses, highlighting the need to improve ball security across the team. The Giants’ five consecutive turnovers are a rare event in the NFL, something not often seen in the last 25 years. Coach Daboll pointed out that turnovers were the key factor in the loss and that the team must improve in this area. It’s not good. We have to cut that shit. I think that starts with me, being a leader. Some of them came from me. I have to be a better example. I have to be a better leader. In those situations, just talk to the guys in the circle. Just remind them of ball security. As a quarterback, I take it upon myself.
