Dallas Turner, Vikings Player, Victim of Bank Scam
Minnesota Vikings outside linebacker Dallas Turner has allegedly been the victim of a bank scam that resulted in the theft of $240,000.Evans added that approximately $2,500 of the stolen funds have been recovered and that the investigation is still active. According to a search warrant affidavit filed in Dakota County District Court (Minnesota) this week, Turner and his attorney contacted the Eagan Police Department in April to report the fraud. The affidavit details that a person posing as a JP Morgan Chase banker called Turner on February 19. The scammer “claimed that someone was trying to impersonate [Turner] at a Chase Bank branch in Arizona and presented two copies of identification to execute a wire transfer”. Turner was instructed by the scammer to transfer his money to two separate businesses to avoid the supposed theft. Subsequently, he went to two Chase Bank branches to transfer $120,000 to “Island Food Truck LLC” and “CNL FL LLC”, according to the affidavit. Turner, 22, realized that “he could have been the victim of a scam” after discussing the matter with a family member, according to the affidavit. The Eagan Police Department has requested details from JPMorgan Chase about the bank’s investigation, including whether any employee may have been involved, according to the affidavit. Turner, selected by the Vikings in the first round of the 2024 draft from Alabama, recorded three sacks and one interception in 16 games during his rookie season last year.“Through our investigation, several suspects have been identified and we are working to file criminal charges and hold them accountable,” said Sergeant Rich Evans of the Eagan (Minnesota) police.
