Cowboys Secure Jadeveon Clowney
The Dallas Cowboys have finalized the signing of the prominent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, as announced by team owner Jerry Jones after the overtime victory against the New York Giants last Sunday.
Clowney, who was a free agent, visited the Cowboys last week.
The Carolina Panthers released Clowney on May 8, after just one season of a two-year contract he signed in 2023.
At 32 years old, Clowney was projected to have a $13.775 million cap hit in 2025, corresponding to the second year of a two-year, $20 million deal.
In the past season, Clowney recorded 5.5 sacks with the Panthers, after achieving 9.5 the previous year with the Baltimore Ravens.
Selected as number 1 in the 2014 draft by the Houston Texans, Clowney played his first five seasons with the franchise, but has since changed teams.
Throughout his 11 seasons in the NFL, he accumulated 58 sacks, 139 quarterback hits, 409 tackles, and 15 forced fumbles.
