Concern in Baltimore: Lamar Jackson and Kyle Hamilton Absent from Practice

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The situation in Baltimore is getting complicated. Lamar Jackson did not participate in practice for the second consecutive day, increasing concerns about injuries on the team.

In addition to Jackson’s absence, star safety Kyle Hamilton also didn’t practice on Thursday due to a groin injury suffered the day before. Jackson and Hamilton are the Ravens’ highest-paid players.

Jackson missed practice this week after leaving Sunday’s game in Kansas City with a hamstring injury. The Ravens, with a 1-3 record, have not yet ruled him out for the next game. If Jackson is unable to play on Sunday, Cooper Rush, former backup quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, could start.

Hamilton, for his part, has not missed a game since 2023. He is considered Baltimore’s most versatile defender, ranking second on the team in tackles (31) and passes defended (two).

Jackson and Hamilton join seven other Pro Bowl players from last year who are also dealing with injuries. In addition to them, Roquan Smith (hamstring), Marlon Humphrey (calf), and Patrick Ricard (calf) did not practice on Thursday.

Three other Pro Bowl players are limited in practice due to injuries: Ronnie Stanley (ankle), Tyler Linderbaum (calf), and Kyle Van Noy (hamstring). On Monday, Baltimore announced that Nnamdi Madubuike has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a neck injury.

Tight end Mark Andrews commented on the team’s mentality: “Everyone in this organization is a fighter. We’ve been through adversity. We know what that’s like, and there’s no surrender in this group, and we’re excited to show that to the world.”

The Ravens, looking to avoid a 1-4 start to the season for the second time in their history, will host the Houston Texans (1-3) on Sunday.
