Joe Burrow Cleared to Return with the Bengals
Good news for Bengals fans! Joe Burrow has been added to the team’s 53-player roster, marking the final step for his return to the field. The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, who was on the injured reserve list, is ready to play in Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Burrow suffered a toe injury in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which led to him being placed on the injured reserve list. After being designated to return on November 10, the team had until December 1 to activate him. The decision was expected, given that Burrow had not experienced setbacks in his recovery.Initially, it was estimated that Burrow would need 12 weeks to recover from surgery on his left big toe. However, his recovery was faster than expected, aiming to be ready for the Week 12 game against the New England Patriots. Although he fully participated in the practices for two days last week, Bengals coach Zac Taylor decided to give him more rest, especially considering the two games in five days. Burrow agreed with the decision and stated that this extra time helped him prepare for the matchup against Baltimore. It’s a national stage to go out and prove yourself again after not playing for several weeks.

To make room for Burrow, the Bengals released quarterback Sean Clifford, who had been acting as the third emergency quarterback. Clifford returned to the practice squad after not being claimed on waivers. Joe Flacco will be Burrow’s backup, while Jake Browning will remain on the 53-man roster.
In other moves, Cincinnati activated safety Daijhan Anthony to the active roster. Anthony, selected in the seventh round of the 2024 draft, had been on the injured reserve list due to a hamstring injury suffered during training camp. To make room for Anthony, cornerback Daijahn Anthony was placed on the injured reserve list due to a hamstring strain. The Bengals, with a 3-8 record, have lost four consecutive games and have a 1% chance of making the playoffs.
