SAN FRANCISCO – The Golden State Warriors have released guard Seth Curry, anticipating his return to the team in the coming months.
This decision responds to the financial limitations faced by the team due to the new salary cap. The Warriors are in a delicate situation, which prevents them from maintaining an additional minimum veteran contract until early November. The fifteenth and last spot on the team will remain vacant until the expected return of the guard.
Seth Curry, younger brother of Stephen Curry, has been training at the team’s facilities and accompanying them on their only preseason trip in October, although he has not participated in the preseason games.
Curry began his 11-year career in the G League with the Santa Cruz program, but chose to explore other options, going through 10 NBA teams, seeking to forge his own professional path, away from his brother’s shadow.
His career has been marked by notable success in launching. The youngest of the Curry brothers has scored 945 three-pointers in his career, with an impressive 43.3% effectiveness, the seventh-best mark in league history.
This summer, Seth considered it was the right time to join Steph, who has always wanted to play with his brother in the NBA. Although delayed, the plan is still on, even after this administrative decision.
