Dennis Schroder Guides Germany to Glory at EuroBasket

RIGA, Latvia – Dennis Schroder starred in a stellar performance to secure gold for Germany in the European basketball championship. Schroder scored the last six points of the game, while Isaac Bonga led the team with 20 points, leading Germany to beat Turkey with a score of 88-83 on Sunday. This triumph marks Germany’s first EuroBasket title since 1993, and comes two years after the team, with a similar core of players, conquered the Basketball World Cup in 2023.

Franz Wagner contributed 18 points, and Schroder finished with 16 points and 12 assists for Germany, which culminated the tournament with a perfect 9-0 record. The match was full of emotion, with 15 lead changes and 11 ties. The last modification on the scoreboard occurred when Schroder scored to give Germany a one-point lead with 1:15 left to play. Schroder extended the lead with a shot with 18.7 seconds left. After a missed three-point attempt by Alperen Sengun of Turkey, Schroder secured the gold medal with two free throws.
