Dorian Finney-Smith Bolsters the Houston Rockets with a Million-Dollar Contract

Free agent forward Dorian Finney-Smith has agreed to a four-year, $53 million contract with the Houston Rockets.

Michael Tellem, Finney-Smith’s agent from Excel Sports, negotiated the terms of the deal with the Rockets executives.

This is an important acquisition for Houston, as it reinforces their depth at the forward position with a veteran who had an outstanding performance in three-point shooting and defense.

Finney-Smith could be a key piece in Houston’s rotation, potentially replacing Dillon Brooks.

Finney-Smith, 32, opted out of his $15.4 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers, making him a free agent.

The forward arrived at the Lakers via a trade from Brooklyn in December, and immediately made an impact. He averaged almost 29 minutes per game with the Lakers, with 39.8% effectiveness in three-point shots.

Finney-Smith, a versatile defender, was key to the functioning of the Lakers’ fast-break units.
