LeBron James Out of Action Due to Sciatica: When Will He Return?

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will miss an additional three to four weeks due to a right side sciatic nerve issue, the team announced this Thursday. James, who has yet to participate in training camp, continues his recovery process. James, 40, has been absent from the Lakers’ first two preseason games and has yet to participate in a full practice. Lakers coach JJ Redick described the injury as nerve irritation in the glute. Sciatica is a painful condition that originates in the spine and radiates down the back of the leg.

When asked about James’ progress with the injury on Thursday, before the Lakers revealed the sciatica diagnosis, Redick said James was “following his own schedule”.

If James remains inactive for the full three or four weeks, he would miss the Lakers’ opening game against the Golden State Warriors on October 21. This week it was reported that James would likely miss all of the preseason, although he was expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
