Knicks Interview Micah Nori for Head Coaching Position
The New York Knicks are interviewing Micah Nori, assistant coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, for the team’s head coaching position. This is reported by sources close to the team.
With this interview, the Knicks have conducted formal interviews with three candidates. In addition to Nori, they have met with Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins, both former head coaches.
Nori, 51, has been an assistant in Minnesota since 2021, working under coach Chris Finch. The Timberwolves denied the Knicks permission to interview Finch for the position, sources confirmed.
Nori has also worked as an assistant for the Detroit Pistons, Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings, and Toronto Raptors.
Mike Brown, who previously coached the Kings, had already been interviewed by the Knicks in 2020, leaving a good impression before the team hired Tom Thibodeau.
Jenkins, who was fired in March, had been the Grizzlies’ coach since the 2019-20 season, the same year Ja Morant was named Rookie of the Year. Under Jenkins, the Grizzlies achieved three postseason appearances, including a playoff series win.
The Knicks are looking for a new head coach after firing Thibodeau, a surprising decision after leading the team to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years.
Sources indicate that several teams have rejected the Knicks’ requests in their search for a head coach this month.
