Tyler Herro, Heat Star, Will Undergo Surgery and Miss the Start of the Season

Miami Heat All-Star Tyler Herro will undergo surgery on his left foot this Friday, which will prevent him from playing at the start of the 2025-26 season.

Sources close to the team indicate that Herro is expected to be out of the courts for approximately eight weeks. This period would leave him out of the first 12 games of the regular season for the Heat.

Herro had already dealt with a left foot injury during the previous season. In addition, he suffered an ankle injury during a preseason training session, which led to the decision for surgery.

The absence of Herro represents a challenge for Miami, as the team will start the season without its top scorer. Herro is coming off his best season, averaging 23.9 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game in the 2024-25 season.

In search of recovering from a disappointing first-round elimination, where the Heat lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami has reinforced its offense and shooting ability with the arrival of Norman Powell and Simone Fontecchio, in addition to selecting Kasparas Jakucionis in the draft. These moves seek to support Herro, Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, and Kel’el Ware.

Herro made his first All-Star appearance last season and has averaged at least 20 points and five rebounds in each of the last four seasons.
