Hawks Send Kobe Bufkin to the Nets

The Atlanta Hawks have finalized a trade that sends guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for cash considerations, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Bufkin, selected in the 15th position of the 2023 NBA draft by the Hawks, has a $5.4 million contract for the current season and a team option of $6.9 million for the 2026-27 season.

This strategic move provides the Hawks with greater flexibility in their roster and grants them a $4.5 million trade exception. For 21-year-old Bufkin, it represents a new development opportunity in Brooklyn.

After this transaction, the Nets have $11.6 million in cap space and have 15 players with guaranteed contracts.

In his two seasons with the Hawks, Bufkin participated in 27 games. In the G League, during the 2023-24 season, he averaged 23.6 points in 14 games.
