The Atlanta Hawks finalize a trade that sends guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for financial considerations, according to sources close to the situation.
Bufkin, selected 15th overall in the 2023 NBA draft by the Hawks, has a salary of $5.4 million for this season and a team option for $6.9 million for the 2026-27 season.
This move provides flexibility in the roster for the Hawks, generating them a $4.5 million trade exception, while giving the 21-year-old player a fresh start in Brooklyn.
The Nets, for their part, have $11.6 million in salary space after this transaction, with 15 players under guaranteed contract.
In his two seasons with the Hawks, Bufkin played in 27 games. In the G League, during the 2023-24 season, he averaged 23.6 points in 14 games.
