Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has expressed his desire to end his professional career playing for a Greek basketball team once he retires from the NBA. Antetokounmpo, who is preparing to start his 13th season with the Bucks, was reflecting on his options during the summer. Currently, the two-time MVP is under contract for the next two seasons, which will allow him to become a free agent in the summer of 2027.
The player, in an interview on ANT1’s The 2night Show, added: “I don’t want to live in the United States. As soon as I leave the NBA, I want to return to Greece. I could end my career here, whether it’s at Filathlitikos, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos or Aris, I’m talking about all the teams.” Antetokounmpo, a native of Athens, Greece, began his professional basketball career with the Filathlitikos team. He played two seasons in the Greek B league before being selected in the 2013 NBA draft.I am 30 years old, I can play in the NBA until I’m 36-38. I would like to finish my career on a Greek team, why not?
