Triumphant return! Joel Embiid returns to the courts with the 76ers after almost eight months of absence. In an exciting preseason game against the Timberwolves, Embiid proved to be ready for the 2025-26 season.
Embiid: “I’m happy to play basketball”
The 76ers’ center, Joel Embiid, expressed his joy at returning to action after his knee surgery. His last appearance was on February 22.Embiid showed a notable physical and mental improvement, leaving behind the cumbersome protection he used last season. His performance included 14 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, and 4 turnovers in 18 minutes and 35 seconds of play. Coach Nick Nurse praised Embiid’s performance, highlighting his good movement, shots, and passes.“The most important thing I felt was joy and happiness to be there. I am happy to touch the ball and play basketball”.

The team also had standout performances from VJ Edgecombe and Quentin Grimes. Edgecombe, drafted, scored 26 points and Grimes, in his preseason debut, added 22 points. In contrast, Paul George is still recovering from knee surgery and is not sure for the start of the season.“The first thing I asked him before going out on the court was: ‘Are you excited?’ He responded: ‘I’m very excited to play!’”.
