Cavaliers’ Max Strus Undergoes Surgery for Foot Fracture
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Max Strus underwent surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his left foot, the team announced on Tuesday. Strus is expected to be out for three to four months.
Strus suffered the injury, a fracture in the bone that connects the pinky toe to the base of the foot, during recent training in the preseason.
The Cavaliers team indicated that Strus is expected to resume basketball activities within three to four months.
Strus, 28, arrived at the Cavaliers two summers ago via a trade agreement and signed for four years and $63 million. He has been a key piece in Cleveland’s rise as a contender in the Eastern Conference over the past two years.
Last season, Strus was also affected at the beginning by a right ankle sprain suffered during training, which kept him out of action for the first two months of the season. Upon his return, he averaged 9.4 points and 3.2 assists, with 38.6% effectiveness in 3-point shots.
With this estimated recovery time, Strus will miss at least the first few months of next season, which for Cleveland begins on October 22.
