Bob Myers Leaves ESPN to Chair Sports at Harris Blitzer

Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers will leave his role as a basketball analyst at ESPN to become president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. This transition gives the executive, known for his championships, the opportunity to work in several of the world’s most important sports leagues. Myers will assume a full-time position with the goal of maximizing opportunities and strengthening processes for the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) portfolio, which includes the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, the English Premier League’s Crystal Palace F.C., and an investment in the NASCAR team, Joe Gibbs Racing. In addition, Myers will continue to support Josh Harris, managing partner of the Washington Commanders, after having collaborated in the creation of the leadership team that has guided the NFL franchise towards prominence. There will be no changes to the reporting structures for HBSE teams; the basketball and hockey presidents of operations will continue to report to the ownership of their respective teams. The arrival of Myers, and his reputation as a respected and powerful figure in the industry, strengthens HBSE’s executive ranks, as he will work strategically with ownership and senior leadership groups in each team. Myers will continue to reside in California, but will travel regularly to HBSE/Commanders properties and events.

“Our goal has been to hire, grow, and retain the brightest executives in the world, and we are a stronger and more dynamic organization with the addition of Bob Myers,” said Harris and David Blitzer. “His experience as an architect of championship teams will complement our existing leadership structure, while allowing HBSE to maximize opportunities across our portfolio. We are excited for Bob to continue his successful career here at HBSE.”

This is the global and multifaceted sporting opportunity that Myers was looking for in the next stage of his career.
Bob Myers helped build the Warriors teams that won four NBA titles and worked as an analyst after leaving his position in Golden State in 2023. Myers began his career as a sports agent, before moving to a role in the Warriors’ front office in 2011. During his 12 years with Golden State, Myers rose to president and general manager, building rosters that won NBA titles in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022, earning NBA Executive of the Year awards in 2015 and 2017. In 2024, Myers served as an advisor to Harris in building the organizational infrastructure of the Commanders, including the hiring of general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn. Myers also began working as a basketball analyst after leaving his position with the Warriors in 2023, participating in pre-game and post-game basketball programs.

“I have been fortunate enough to know Josh and David for a long time, and I have always admired and respected them greatly for the way they have built such an impressive global sports portfolio,” Myers said. “This position was intriguing because it provides the opportunity to work with some of the most talented leaders and executives in the industry in the world’s most important sports leagues.

Myers added: “I also want to thank Bob Iger, Jimmy Pitaro, and my ESPN colleagues for an incredible experience during my time there and for their support as I pursue the next chapter of my career.”
