Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers will leave his position as a basketball analyst at ESPN to become president of sports at Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. This transition gives the executive, known for his championships, the opportunity to work in several of the world’s most important sports leagues. Myers will assume a full-time role with the aim of maximizing opportunities and strengthening processes for the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) portfolio. This includes the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, the English Premier League’s Crystal Palace F.C., and an investment in the NASCAR team Joe Gibbs Racing. Myers will also continue to support Josh Harris, managing partner of the Washington Commanders, after having contributed to the creation of the leadership team that has guided the NFL franchise towards prominence. There will be no changes to the reporting structures for HBSE teams; the basketball and hockey operations presidents will continue to report to the ownership of their respective teams. The arrival of Myers, and his reputation as a respected and powerful figure in the industry, strengthens HBSE’s executive ranks. He will work strategically with ownership and the senior leadership groups of each team. Although he will continue to reside in California, he will travel regularly to HBSE/Commanders properties and events.

Our goal has been to hire, grow, and retain the brightest executives in the world, and we are a stronger and more dynamic organization with the addition of Bob Myers. His experience as an architect of championship teams will complement our existing leadership structure, while allowing HBSE to maximize opportunities across our portfolio. We are excited for Bob to continue his successful career here at HBSE.

Myers began his career as a sports agent, before moving to a role in the Warriors’ front office in 2011. During his 12 years with Golden State, he rose to president and general manager, building teams that won NBA titles in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022, and earning NBA Executive of the Year awards in 2015 and 2017. In 2024, Myers advised Harris on building the Commanders’ organizational infrastructure, including the hiring of general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn. Myers also began working as a basketball analyst for ESPN after leaving his position with the Warriors in 2023, participating in the network’s pre- and post-game basketball programs.

I have been fortunate enough to know Josh and David for a long time, and I have always admired and respected them greatly for the way they have built such an impressive global sports portfolio. This role was intriguing because it provides the opportunity to work with some of the most talented leaders and executives in the industry in the world’s most important sports leagues.

Myers added:

I also want to thank Bob Iger, Jimmy Pitaro, and my ESPN colleagues for the incredible experience during my time there and for their support as I pursue the next chapter of my career.
