Yandy Díaz and Tampa Bay’s Pitching Beat the Dodgers
Tampa Bay, Florida – In a game where the Cuban offense shined and the pitching remained dominant, the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0, ending a four-game losing streak.
Cuban Yandy Díaz was the offensive figure of the game, connecting two home runs against his former teammate Blake Snell. Díaz opened the scoring in the first inning with a 326-foot hit to right field. In the third inning, he repeated the feat with a two-run homer, adding his twentieth home run of the season.
Pitcher Drew Rasmussen (9-5) was key in the victory, offering a solid performance from the mound. In 5.1 innings, he didn’t allow any runs, conceding only four hits, striking out six batters and without giving up any walks. Although he left the game with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, reliever Garrett Cleavinger managed a double play to get out of the trouble.
Tampa Bay’s offense secured the victory in the sixth inning with a solo home run by Dominican Junior Caminero, marking his 28th of the season.
The Rays’ bullpen kept the pressure on the Dodgers. Dominican Edwin Uceta retired six batters in a row in two perfect innings, and Pete Fairbanks took care of the ninth inning to complete the shutout.
Blake Snell (1-1), who made his first start since April 2 after recovering from shoulder inflammation, took the loss. Snell allowed three runs and four hits in five innings.
With this victory, Tampa Bay breaks its losing streak and seeks to improve its position in the fight for the postseason, relying on the power of Díaz and the consistency of its pitching staff.
