Wood and Soriano Shine: MLB Figures of the Week

The Major League Baseball (MLB) has recognized James Wood, outfielder for the Washington Nationals, and Dominican pitcher José Soriano, of the Los Angeles Angels, as Players of the Week. In addition, Jordan Beck, outfielder for the Colorado Rockies, took home the honors with the Play of the Week.

Wood: Power to the Bat

James Wood demonstrated his offensive power with a .545 average (12 hits in 22 at-bats) in six games. His performance included three doubles, three home runs, eight RBIs, eight runs scored, and two stolen bases. Wood led the league in batting average, on-base percentage (.655), slugging (1.091), OPS (1.746), and hits, solidifying himself as a dominant offensive force.

Soriano: Domination from the Lomita

José Soriano, for his part, maintained his excellent start to the season with a 2-0 record and an ERA of 0.60 in two starts. The right-handed pitcher allowed only one earned run in 15 innings, with five hits, three walks, and 20 strikeouts. The Dominican currently leads Major League Baseball in ERA (0.33), wins (4), and strikeouts (31), proving to be one of the most effective pitchers of the season.

Beck: Standing Out in Defense

Jordan Beck stole the spotlight with his spectacular defensive play. He robbed a home run from Nick Castellanos during the game between the Rockies and the Padres, an action that stood out for its precision and spectacular nature. With outstanding performances in offense, pitching, and defense, the week demonstrated the high level of competition that characterizes the start of the Major League season.
