Wilmer Paredes Wins the Second Stage of the Vuelta Ciclística Independencia
Colombian cyclist Wilmer Paredes starred in an exciting finish to secure the victory in the second stage of the 47th Vuelta Ciclística Independencia Nacional this Wednesday, while Dominican Danielky Cedeño maintained his position as leader in the general classification.
The stage, which covered 153 kilometers, passed through Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal and the Santo Domingo Ring Road. The official start was given from the facilities of Seaboard Energía Limpia, with the general manager, Armando Rodríguez, giving the start.
Paredes completed the stage with a time of 3 hours and 42 seconds, surpassing the peloton in a final sprint that allowed him to gain a minimal advantage. Jason Huertas, from Team La Romana, and Álvaro Reyes completed the podium of the day.Danielky Cedeño Maintains Leadership
Despite Paredes’ triumph, Danielky Cedeño, winner of the initial stage, maintains the overall lead with an accumulated time of 5:14:28. Paredes is only four seconds away, promising intense competition for the leader’s jersey in the upcoming stages.
In the team classification, Team Medellín leads the table with a total time of 15:44:29, followed by City Bike Miami, with 15:46:39.Next Stage: Mountain Challenge
The competition will continue on Thursday the 26th with the third stage, a 158-kilometer route that will start at the Banreservas Tower, on Winston Churchill Avenue, and end in Rancho Arriba, San José de Ocoa. This mountainous route could generate significant changes in the general classification.
On Friday the 27th, a closed circuit will be held in Mirador Sur Park (140 kilometers), and on Saturday the 28th, the penultimate stage will be disputed between Santo Domingo and the Circunvalación Santo Domingo Norte (138 kilometers).
The 47th edition of the cycling tour will conclude on Sunday, March 1st with a final circuit in the monumental area of Santiago.
The event is supported by the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency, the Ministry of Sports, Banreservas, Seaboard and Economic Dining Halls, in addition to the logistical support of the Military and Police Commission of the Ministry of Public Works, the 911 System, Digesset, Politur and the Dominican Olympic Committee.
