Puerto Plata. The Dominican Government has launched the remodeling and roofing works of the Hugo Kunhardt Athletic and Cultural Club, located in the municipality of San Felipe de Puerto Plata. This initiative seeks to strengthen sports infrastructure and benefit hundreds of children, adolescents and young people in the province. The project is led by the Presidential Commission for Provincial Development and will be executed by Constructora Hurtado, as part of a government plan focused on the renovation and modernization of sports spaces in various communities across the country. The intervention covers a total area of 697.71 square meters. It includes the reconstruction of the courts, the construction of bleachers and bathrooms, the remodeling of the first and second levels with multipurpose rooms, and the rehabilitation of the exterior environment. The new courts will be covered with a metal structure and aluzinc roofing. They will be equipped with basketball backboards, scoreboards, and a complete kit for volleyball practice. The multipurpose rooms will be furnished for educational, cultural, and community activities. This initiative joins other works already completed at the Deportivo Fantástico, Gregorio Luperón, and Gustavo Behal clubs. In addition, work is expected to begin at the 12 de Octubre and Liga Miramar clubs, expanding the sports development program in the province. The Hugo Kunhardt Club, founded in 1964 by a group of sportsmen, has been a pillar in the promotion of sport and community integration in the INVI neighborhood. This is a long-awaited dream for all club members. We thank the President of the Republic, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, and all those who made it possible for this work to begin to be executed.
