Wembanyama Leads NBA All-Defensive First Team
The NBA has announced the ideal defensive team for the 2025-2026 season, led by Victor Wembanyama. The French player, who plays for the San Antonio Spurs, continues to demonstrate his worth as one of the most outstanding defensive figures in the league.
Wembanyama was unanimously chosen, obtaining the maximum possible score of 200 points from the voters.
Alongside Wembanyama, the starting five includes Chet Holmgren (Oklahoma City Thunder), Ausar Thompson (Detroit Pistons), Rudy Gobert (Minnesota Timberwolves), and Derrick White (Boston Celtics).
Holmgren finished second in the voting, scoring 190 points, followed by Thompson with 166. Gobert accumulated 151 units and White rounded out the quintet with 146.
Wembanyama’s selection as the main defender comes shortly after being named NBA Defensive Player of the Year, also unanimously.
This recognition makes Wembanyama the first player to achieve this distinction unanimously.

The NBA also revealed the second defensive team of the season, composed of Scottie Barnes (Toronto Raptors), Cason Wallace (Oklahoma City), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat), OG Anunoby (New York Knicks), and Dyson Daniels (Atlanta Hawks).
This selection highlights the prominence of a new generation of players who are making their mark in the defensive realm of the NBA.
