Ulises Joaquín is Optimistic for the Next Season of the Tigres del Licey
Pitcher Ulises Joaquín expressed his optimism for the 2025-2026 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). Joaquín highlighted the depth and talent of the Tigres del Licey’s pitching staff, as long as they stay healthy. Joaquín, visibly enthusiastic, shared his impressions during the blue team’s practices. “I am very happy to be here. I feel healthy, which is the most important thing. I think this has been one of my most complete trainings, both physically and mentally. I am ready to give my best and help the team this year,” he stated. The veteran reliever highlighted the positive atmosphere within the team since the start of training. “The group is doing very well, from day one. There are many new faces and we are all working together, because Licey is a family. I thank God for the opportunity and for allowing us to prepare together to pursue the goal,” he pointed out.In reference to the previous season, where the Tigres reached the final, Joaquín stated that the team maintains faith and focus. “The sun shines for everyone. Regarding the bullpen, the right-hander highlighted the combination of experience and youth that the blue bullpen possesses. “If we maintain discipline, we can go very far. We have many young arms with good velocity and a lot of heart. The talent is there,” he stated.
Despite not having a specific defined role, Joaquín reiterated his willingness to contribute wherever necessary. “I am a utility pitcher. Wherever manager Gilbert Gómez needs me, I will be there. I don’t like sitting at home; I want to be on the field giving my best,” he said with determination.
