Toros del Este Bolster Their Pitching with Carrillo and Moran

La Romana – Los Toros del Este continue to strengthen their pitching staff with the incorporation of Mexican right-hander Raúl Carrillo and American left-hander Brian Moran, both with professional experience and ready to contribute to the team. Both pitchers are already in the Dominican Republic and will be available to manager Víctor Estévez and his coaching staff to debut when they deem appropriate.

We are focused on continuing to reinforce our pitching staff, as we understand that pitching will be key to compete in the remainder of the tournament.

Jesús Mejía, general manager of the Toros
Mejía added that they are experienced arms, without limitations, that can contribute both in the rotation and from the bullpen. Moran, with Major League experience with the Miami Marlins, Toronto Blue Jays, and Los Angeles Angels (2022), arrives after an outstanding performance with the Indios de Mayagüez in Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico, Moran participated in nine games, seven as a starter, accumulating 31.2 innings, with six walks, 29 strikeouts, an ERA of 3.69, and a WHIP of 1.20. During the summer, Moran split his time between Double-A and Triple-A with the Atlanta Braves, recording 57 strikeouts and 12 walks in 59 innings, with an ERA of 3.36 and a WHIP of 1.00. This will be Moran’s fourth participation in LIDOM, after successfully pitching with the Leones del Escogido for three seasons. In his lifetime in the Dominican league, Moran has a 2-1 record, an ERA of 2.89, 44 strikeouts and six walks in 37.1 innings, with a WHIP of 1.04. For his part, Carrillo, 34 years old, comes from playing in Mexico with the Tucson Baseball Team, where he had a 5-4 record and a 4.40 ERA in 12 starts, accumulating 61.1 innings. The right-hander already knows the Dominican league, after briefly reinforcing the Águilas Cibaeñas during the Round Robin of the 2019-20 season. Los Toros del Este start the week in second place in the Round Robin, seeking to return to a Final Series for the first time since the 2019-2020 season.
