Luxury Reinforcements for the Dominican Selection in the 2026 World Baseball Classic

The Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM) announced this Thursday the incorporation of outstanding players to the roster of the Dominican Republic national team that will compete in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Carlos Santana, Brayan Bello, Yainer Díaz, Seranthony Domínguez and Carlos Estévez have received authorization to represent the country in the tournament. The inclusion of Brayan Bello strengthens the starting pitchers’ corps, joining Cristopher Sánchez and Sandy Alcántara, who had already been confirmed. Domínguez and Estévez, for their part, will reinforce the bullpen, a crucial aspect in a tournament with pitching restrictions. Seranthony Domínguez, who recently signed with the Chicago White Sox, brings solidity from the bullpen. For Seranthony Domínguez, this will be his first participation in the World Baseball Classic. Carlos Santana, with three participations, is consolidated as one of the most experienced players on the team, remembering his key role in the undefeated championship of 2013. Domínguez, after his time with the Baltimore Orioles and the Blue Jays, arrives after a standout season in 2025, where he recorded an ERA of 3.16 in 62.2 innings, with 79 strikeouts and two saves. Carlos Estévez, with his experience in Major Leagues, will bring depth and stability to the Dominican bullpen, thanks to his performance as a closer and setup man in high-pressure situations. Carlos Santana, Gold Glove finalist in the 2025 season, will bring leadership and solidity at first base, backing Vladimir Guerrero Jr., according to the strategies of manager Albert Pujols. Yainer Díaz, considered the most consistent catcher in the country in the last three seasons of the Major Leagues, is expected to be the starting catcher for the Dominican team. These players join Fernando Tatis Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Oneil Cruz, Sandy Alcántara and Cristopher Sánchez, as management continues to structure a competitive roster for the tournament to be held in March.
