Dominican Summer Baseball League Kicks Off Its Season with New Excitement
Moca, Espaillat province – The Dominican Republic’s Summer National Baseball League is preparing for the start of its sixteenth tournament this Friday, July 18. The competition will feature the participation of six teams, including a new addition that promises to add even more excitement to the championship. The tournament will kick off with an exciting opening match between the current champions, the Granjeros de Moca, and the Atléticos de Puerto Plata. The match will take place at the José Briceño stadium in the Bride of the Atlantic, starting at 6:00 PM. The regular season will consist of 20 matches per team, extending until August 17th. One of the most outstanding novelties of this season will be the celebration of the All-Star Game, scheduled for Friday, August 23rd in Puerto Plata. The teams that will compete in this edition are: Granjeros de Moca, Bravos de La Vega, Atléticos de Puerto Plata, Arroceros de San Francisco de Macorís, Mineros de Bonao and the debutants Reales de Santiago de los Caballeros. After the regular season, the top four teams will advance to the Round Robin, where they will face each other in six matches per team. From this stage, the two finalist teams will emerge to play a best-of-seven series.Juan Núñez, president of the National Summer Baseball League and also president of the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM), expressed his optimism for this new edition. He highlighted the incorporation of new structures, a competitive calendar, and the inclusion of the Reales de Santiago de los Caballeros, which will bring dynamism and expansion to the circuit. The Moca Farmers, based in Espaillat province, have been a dominant team in the recent history of the tournament, winning 11 of the 15 editions, including six consecutive championships. Núñez reaffirmed the league’s commitment to strengthening baseball at the national level, serving as an essential platform for the development of players, coaches, and the communities that live the passion for the king of sports.This will be the definitive launch tournament for our league.
