Santo Domingo – The Mauricio Báez Club demonstrated its offensive power, led by the Suero brothers, by defeating Los Prados with a score of 84-82 in an exciting regular season match of the 49th Superior Basketball Tournament of the National District (TBS Distrito 2025).
The match, held at the Ricardo Gioriver Arias Volleyball Pavilion, saw the Mauritians, who returned to the tournament in 2016 after a 13-year absence, rely once again on the outstanding performance of Juan Miguel and Gerardo Suero.
Suero Brothers’ Domain
Juan Miguel Suero led the offense with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists, while
Gerardo Suero contributed 18 points and 4 rebounds. The combination of both players proved crucial to the team’s victory.
The contribution of foreign players was also fundamental to the triumph of Mauricio Báez.
Tony Farmer scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, and
Jaquar Lighfoot contributed 9 points.
The Meadows Fight to the End

Eddy Mercedes (Chiquito Irving) stood out with a double-double of 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists.
B.J. Fitzgerald contributed 17 points,
William Cruz scored 16 and
Daytone Jennings added 14 points and 9 rebounds, demonstrating the tenacity of the opposing team.
Positions and Upcoming Matches
With this victory, the Villa Juana team is positioned at the top of Group A with a 2-1 record, securing their second consecutive win. Los Prados, for their part, are left with a 1-2 record.
The tournament, organized by the National District Basketball Association (Abadina) and presided over by Colonel Diego Pesqueira, is dedicated to the Dominican Sports Immortal Evaristo Pérez.
