Santo Domingo – The Dominican Republic continues to reinforce its team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, adding high-caliber names that promise to strengthen the roster in pursuit of the title. The Dominican team, which already had star players like Fernando Tatis Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., has added two important arms to its pitching staff. Left-handed relievers Wandy Peralta and Gregory Soto have confirmed their participation, as announced by the Dominican Baseball Federation.
Both players were part of the Dominican team in the 2023 edition, where they brought experience to the bullpen. Although the team did not manage to advance beyond the group stage in the previous tournament, the inclusion of Peralta and Soto is a clear indication of the team’s ambition.
Peralta, known for his control and veteran presence in high-pressure situations in the Major Leagues, offers a valuable addition from the left side. For his part, Soto brings power and the ability to face crucial situations in the final innings of the games. The Dominican Republic will begin its participation in Group D of the World Baseball Classic on March 6, facing Nicaragua at 7:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) at loanDepot park in Miami.
