OKLAHOMA CITY – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, star of the Oklahoma City Thunder and current NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), will not be present at the 2026 All-Star Game due to an abdominal injury, the franchise announced this Tuesday.
The guard will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break, scheduled for next week, as he continues his recovery process.
Gilgeous-Alexander did not play in the final quarter of Oklahoma City’s victory against the Orlando Magic (128-92). In that game, his participation was uncertain due to a sprained finger, according to the official injury report.
The abdominal injury will prevent him from participating in the All-Star game, which will be held on February 15 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the new home of the Los Angeles Clippers.
This was going to be the fourth All-Star Game appearance for the Canadian player, and he had been selected as a starter, thanks to the joint vote of the public, the media, and the league players.
Gilgeous-Alexander was set to represent Team World in an All-Star game that this year will feature an innovative format, with a round robin mini-tournament between three teams: two from the United States and one international. The two best teams would advance to the final, leaving behind the traditional duel between the Eastern and Western conferences.
