Seranthony Domínguez Bolsters the Dominican Roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic

Dominican pitcher Seranthony Domínguez has been confirmed as part of the Dominican Republic team that will participate in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This addition underscores the national team’s determination to have high-caliber pitchers for the international tournament.

Domínguez, 31 years old, has proven to be a consistent reliever in the last seasons of Major League Baseball. His ability to pitch in high-pressure situations and his experience in setup and closer roles will be valuable for the Dominican team, under the direction of Albert Pujols.

Recently, the reliever signed a two-year, $20 million contract with the Chicago White Sox. Domínguez arrives with the backing of having been a key piece in the bullpens of contending teams in the past Major League season.

Domínguez joins a group of already confirmed talents on the Dominican roster, including figures like Sandy Alcántara, Cristopher Sánchez, Fernando Tatis Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Oneil Cruz, among others. This combination promises a powerful offense and solid pitching depth.

This will be Domínguez’s first participation with the Dominican team in the World Baseball Classic, expanding his international career after a distinguished seven-season career in the Major Leagues.

The Dominican Republic, which will play the group stage at the Miami Marlins stadium as part of Group D, will face Venezuela, Nicaragua, the Netherlands and Israel, with the goal of winning the world title for the second time in its history, after its victory in 2013.
