Mother’s Day: Memories and Tributes in Santiago

Mother’s Day, celebrated this Sunday, became a day of deep emotion and remembrance for numerous families who gathered at the Ingenio Arriba cemetery in Santiago to honor their deceased mothers. Among those present, Mereces Argentina García shared her feelings, moving everyone with her words about the persistent pain left by the departure of her mother.

Since I lost my mother, I have no peace. She was everything to me, to my sisters, and to the whole family

Mereces Argentina García
Visibly moved, García remembered her mother, whom she described as “a queen” who lived to be 96 years old. She fondly recalled the blessings and affection she received on each visit. Nuris García, also present at the cemetery, took the opportunity to call on those who still have their mothers alive, urging them to value them and dedicate time to them.

Those who have their mother must take care of her and love her. After a mother is gone, one understands the great void she leaves. There is nothing that can replace a mother’s love

Nuris García
Nuris explained that, despite the physical absence of her mother, her nine children keep her memory alive through regular visits to the cemetery and the care of her resting place.

These emotional statements reflected the feelings of many children who, on this special day, went to the cemeteries of Santiago to remember those who gave them life, on a date that for some is a celebration, but for others is marked by absence and longing.
