Sanó and Sánchez: LIDOM MVP of the Week in first voting

SANTO DOMINGO – The outstanding players Miguel Ángel Sanó, from the Estrellas Orientales, and Aaron Sánchez, from the Toros del Este, have been recognized as the most valuable players of the first edition of the MVP of the Week Award of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), corresponding to the period from October 15 to 20, 2025.

This award, presented by Ron Ozama, distinguishes weekly the most outstanding players of the autumn-winter tournament, based on the vote of sports communicators who cover the league throughout the country.

Sanó leads the voting for position players

In the voting for position players, Sanó obtained the most votes, with 63 (47%) out of a total of 134 voters. He surpassed Aderlin Rodríguez, from the Águilas Cibaeñas (32 votes, 23.9%), and rookie Felnin Celesté, from the Toros del Este (20 votes, 14%). Other players who also received support were Josh Lester (Estrellas), Bryant Torres and Mikey Gasper (Toros).

During the evaluated week, Sanó participated in five games, connecting six hits in 19 at-bats, including two home runs and eight RBIs. His batting average was .316, with an OBP of .409, a slugging percentage of .684, and an OPS of 1.093. The Estrellas Orientales recorded a 4-1 record during that period.

Sánchez excels in the pitchers category

In the category of pitchers, Aaron Sánchez was chosen in a dominant manner, obtaining 75 votes (56.8%) out of 132 possible. He surpassed the opener Grant Gavin, from the Leones del Escogido (42 votes, 31.8%).

Sánchez shined in his only start of the week, throwing five complete innings, allowing only one hit, with seven strikeouts and no walks, maintaining his perfect 0.00 ERA.

Enny Romero (Estrellas Orientales) and Charlie Barnes (Águilas Cibaeñas) completed the voting, both with four votes (3%). Esmil Rogers (Estrellas), César Valdez (Licey), and Jake Faria (Gigantes del Cibao) also received consideration.
