Regional Baseball Clinic Gathers Young Talents in Baní

The Municipal Stadium of Baní, in the province of Peravia, was the setting for an outstanding regional baseball clinic aimed at children aged 8 to 10 years old. This training event, which is part of a national sports development program, brought together 230 young prospects from various provinces of the country. The activity, organized by the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM), the management of the Dominican team heading to the World Baseball Classic and Major League Baseball (MLB), seeks to promote the values of sport and provide a solid foundation for the future of these young athletes. The clinic, which took place at the Luis María Herrera stadium, featured the participation of important figures from baseball, who shared their experience and knowledge with the young participants. The children had the opportunity to participate in technical stations, game dynamics and an exciting Home Run Derby, creating an environment of learning and healthy competition.

“With this activity we fulfill one of the purposes of our federation,” said Nuñez. “I thank all the coaches and presidents of associations in the region for responding to this call.”

The event was attended by Juan Núñez, president of the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOBE); Kelvin Cruz, Minister of Sports; Nelson Cruz, the general manager of the Dominican team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic; Miguel Matos, director of the MLB office in the Dominican Republic and Henry González, director of International Operations of MLB. In addition, the support of prominent Banilejo baseball players such as Rafael Landestoy, Miguel Tejada and Cristian Guzmán was counted on. Also present were Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, president of LIDOM; Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of Centro Caribe Sports, and José Monegro, president of the Organizing Committee of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, along with the official mascot Colí. The upcoming regional clinics are scheduled for this coming Friday the 16th at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macorís, then on Saturday, January 24th at the Micalo Bermúdez stadium in Santiago and finally on Thursday the 29th at the Quisqueya stadium.
