The Boston Red Sox announced this Wednesday the inclusion of left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his left shoulder. In a strategic move, the team promoted utility player Nate Eaton from Triple-A Worcester to strengthen the roster. Crochet, who was the runner-up for the American League Cy Young Award in 2025, has had a challenging start to the season. The pitcher has a 3-3 record, with an ERA of 6.30 and a WHIP of 1.47 in his first six starts.
His performance was impacted by an outing on April 13 against Minnesota, where he allowed 11 runs and only managed to get five outs. However, he showed signs of improvement in his most recent presentation, pitching six scoreless innings against Baltimore.
Eaton, 29 years old, has experience in 113 Major League games, having played for the Royals and Red Sox between 2022 and 2025. In the previous season with Boston, he participated in 41 games, with a batting average of .296 and an OPS of .731. The organization will be monitoring Crochet’s evolution, a crucial element in its opening rotation, as it seeks to improve its performance this season.
