Reales de La Vega Obtain Important Victory Over Gigantes in the LNB
La Vega, Dominican Republic – Los Reales de La Vega secured a significant step towards qualifying for the elimination phase of the LNB Super League, after defeating Gigantes Basketball Club with a score of 90-82. The match took place this Wednesday at the Palacio de los Deportes Fernando Teruel, in La Vega.
With this victory, the Royals improve their record to 8-7 in the regular season, while the Giants now have a mark of 12-4.
The match was close, with the Giants seeking to consolidate their leadership position. However, the Royals managed to take the lead in the final minutes of the last quarter, establishing a crucial advantage.
With 5:28 left on the clock, the Royals pulled away with a 10-point lead (78-68). The Giants tried to close the gap, reducing the difference to six points (86-80) with 53.3 seconds left to play, but they failed to complete the comeback.
The game’s partial scores were 17-20, 28-20, 23-21 and 22-21, all in favor of the Royals, who maintained an impressive 7-1 record playing at home and secured the particular series against the Giants by points difference.
Ramón Galloway led the Royals’ offense with 31 points, including 10 of 10 free throws. Rey Abad contributed 14 points and Malachi Richardson finished with 22.
For the Giants, Luismal Ferreiras and Francis Fitgerald scored 23 points each. Charles Brown Jr. contributed 12 points and Edgar Tejeda, 10.
The Royals gained an advantage in the first half, 45-40, after losing the first quarter 17-20. In the second quarter, their offense improved noticeably, achieving an eight-point lead (28-20). A three-pointer by Richardson was key to closing the first half with the Royals in the lead.
