Moca Heroes Crush Lions and Advance to Playoffs in LNB

MOCA – The Heroes of Moca secured their spot in the elimination phase of the National Basketball League (LNB) after defeating the Leones de Santo Domingo with a score of 120-111 at the Moca 85 sports complex. In their debut season in the LNB, the Mocanos demonstrate their strength with a 9-6 record, solidifying themselves in third position. This victory also represents a sweep over the Leones, whom they had already defeated on April 25th.

Kevin Obanor led the Heroes’ attack with 31 points, followed by Caleb Huffman with 24 and Nargenis Ulloa with 14. Yerri Flores and Robert Glenn also contributed with 12 points each. For the Lions, Gerardo Suero was the top scorer with 27 points.

I feel happy with the guys because we were able to qualify and because of how we have improved as a team. We have to keep working hard, as the teams will continue to improve.

Match Development

The first quarter was dominated by the Heroes, who scored 37 points against the Lions’ 21, with an impressive 68% field goal percentage. Obanor scored 14 points in this period, followed by Ulloa. The Heroes’ superiority continued in the second quarter, extending the lead to 25 points thanks to a three-pointer by Flores. At the end of the first half, the score was 71-43 in favor of Moca. In the third quarter, Huffman stood out with 11 points, increasing the difference to 30 points. Despite the Lions’ efforts in the last quarter, time did not favor them to come back. The match ended with a resounding victory for the Heroes of Moca.
