Bautista Lorenzo highlighted that the COD will collaborate closely with the Dominican Baseball Federation to form a competitive team, seeking a performance similar to that demonstrated in the recent World Baseball Classic.

The Dominican team secured its place in the Olympic Games thanks to its outstanding performance in the World Baseball Classic, guaranteeing its presence in the most important sporting event in the world. Additionally, Bautista Lorenzo expressed interest in the negotiations between the office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball and the players’ union. These conversations seek to extend the All-Star Game break in 2028, which would facilitate the participation of MLB players in the Olympic Games. If this agreement is reached, the Dominican selection could count on outstanding figures from professional baseball, increasing their chances in the Olympic tournament. The last participation of baseball in the Olympic Games was in Tokyo 2020, where the Dominican Republic obtained the bronze medal by defeating South Korea.
