Carlos Adames Will Defend His World Title in Orlando
The World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight (160 pounds) world champion, Dominican Carlos Adames, is preparing to defend his crown this Saturday, March 21st. The venue will be the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida, where he will face American Austin Williams. Adames, with a professional record of 24 wins, one loss, and one draw, including 18 knockouts, comes to this defense with great determination. The boxer has stated that this fight represents “revenge” for the Dominican baseball team’s loss to the United States in the World Baseball Classic.The Dominican boxer is in Orlando after concluding his preparation in Las Vegas, Nevada, under the tutelage of the experienced Cuban coach Ismael Sala. Adames was elevated to absolute champion of the World Boxing Council in May 2024, solidifying himself as one of the most solid champions in the division. This fight against Williams will be Adames’ third defense since he was crowned regular champion by the WBC in May 2024. Previously, he defeated Terrell Gausha by decision in Las Vegas and drew against Hamzah Sheeraz in Saudi Arabia. Austin “Ammo” Williams, with a record of 20 wins and one loss, with 13 knockouts, will seek his first world championship. The fight between Adames and Williams will be broadcast live worldwide on DAZN.
