José Ramírez and Nico Hoerner: Week’s Highlights in Baseball

Major League Baseball recognizes its most outstanding players. José Ramírez, from the Dominican Republic, was awarded for the ninth time in his career as Player of the Week in the American League. Meanwhile, infielder Nico Hoerner received the same recognition in the National League.

Ramírez proved his worth in seven games, achieving a batting average of .364 (8 of 22). In his performance, he hit a double, four home runs, drove in five runs, and scored nine. In addition, he got eight walks, stole five bases, and recorded a slugging percentage of .955 and an on-base percentage of .533.

The Dominican third baseman led the Major Leagues in OPS (1.488), on-base percentage and stolen bases, and tied for runs scored during the period.

Hoerner also left his mark with a .346 average (9 for 26), including two home runs and 11 RBIs, tying for the weekly lead. He scored four runs and stole two bases. His offensive line was completed with a .577 slugging percentage and a .377 on-base percentage.

The play of the week was made by outfielder Jackson Merrill, who made a spectacular catch to prevent a home run by Dominican Julio Rodríguez.
