Juan Francisco Puello Herrera Will End His Tenure as CBPC Commissioner in 2027
Santo Domingo – The Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC) announced that Juan Francisco Puello Herrera will conclude his work as Commissioner on July 13, 2027, after 34 years of service to the institution. This decision was made at the Presidents’ Assembly held on July 14, 2025.
To ensure a smooth and transparent transition, a Special Commission was established, composed of the President of the Board of Directors, the Executive Secretary, and the Commissioner himself. This commission will be in charge of overseeing the process until the election of the new head by the Assembly.
The CBPC has indicated that, in the event that the election is not completed by the appointed date, the provisions of Article 27 of the Statutes and the Seventh Resolution of the Assembly of July 13, 2023, will be applied. This aims to maintain institutional continuity and the stability of the Confederation.Strengthening Internal Governance
In the same assembly, a resolution was approved that seeks to clarify the functions and responsibilities of the Board of Directors. It was confirmed that this body is part of the government structure of the Confederation, and although hierarchically subordinate to the Assembly, it has the responsibility to supervise and ensure compliance with its mandates.
The Board of Directors, as an intermediate body, will actively participate in the administration of the CBPC, proposing initiatives and ensuring compliance with the general and specific objectives of the institution. Meanwhile, the Caribbean Commissioner will continue to execute the decisions made by the Assembly.Flexibility in the Organization of the Caribbean Series
Finally, the Assembly approved that, for the upcoming Caribbean Series, each host country will be free to choose how many and which guest countries will participate, in addition to the CBPC member leagues. This will provide greater flexibility in team formation and promote the international projection of the tournament.
