Pony 12U Children’s Baseball Pre-World Tournament Kicks Off in San Cristóbal

San Cristobal was the chosen setting to kick off the Pony 12U Children’s Baseball Pre-World Tournament, a multidisciplinary event that took place in the Minor Auditorium of the Loyola Polytechnic Institute.

The competition, which brings together more than 350 participants, represents an important sporting and cultural exchange between various nations of the region, including Colombia, Nicaragua, Bahamas, Curacao, El Salvador, Panama, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic.

During the opening ceremony, Eugenio Báez, president of Pony Dominicana Baseball, highlighted the hard work and dedication of the organization to make this event possible. Báez emphasized the commitment of a team dedicated to providing young athletes with an unforgettable experience.

The U12 Pre-World Cup in the country meets all Pony League standards.

Eliseo Serrano, president of the Pony League for the Latin America and Caribbean Zone, praised the excellent organization of the event, congratulating Eugenio Báez and his team for creating a high-quality sporting and cultural experience.

Sports journalist Héctor Gómez, in his words of exhortation, congratulated the young athletes for their achievements in the national tournaments and their participation in this competition for the Latin American title. Gómez urged the children to appreciate the effort of their parents in their academic and sports training.

Germán Martínez, deputy of the San Cristóbal province and vice president of Pony Dominicana Baseball, offered the welcoming words to the city. The event was attended by Cristian Ceballos, deputy director of Proindustria; Manuel Carrasco, director of Juventud Supérate; and the councilors of the San Cristóbal municipality, Evelyn Ciprian and Luis Galván.

The artistic part was in charge of the Folkloric Ballet and the Municipal Music Band.

Tournament Development

The sports events are taking place from June 7th to 11th, at the Maikel Cuesta Academy, located in the municipality of Yaguate.

The event is sponsored by Seaboard, San Cristóbal City Hall, the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), the Ministry of Sports, EGEHID, Farmacia Cristiana, Yanguate City Hall, Financiamoto La Fuente, Supermercado Saomy, Dionicio Farmac, Ferreteria El Cruce, Rufo Sport, Convemant Bienes Raíces, Agua Castalia and Supermercados Inés.
