Pablo López will undergo Tommy John surgery

Venezuelan pitcher Pablo López, a key figure in the Minnesota Twins’ rotation, will undergo Tommy John reconstructive surgery this Wednesday. The decision was made after a significant tear was confirmed in the ulnar collateral ligament of his right elbow.

A second medical opinion supported the initial diagnosis, leading to the determination that the right should be intervened in Texas by specialist Keith Meister.

This intervention will mark the second Tommy John surgery in López’s career, which poses a challenge for both the player and the Minnesota organization in the perspective of the 2026 season.

The estimated recovery time for this type of procedure in pitchers is around 12 months, which means that the Venezuelan will be absent throughout the 2026 campaign. However, it is expected that he will be able to return to the mound at the beginning of the 2027 season.
