Shohei Ohtani: Dodgers’ On-Base Record

The Japanese star Shohei Ohtani continues to achieve success with the Los Angeles Dodgers, extending his impressive streak of consecutive games reaching base to 52.

This achievement places him in third place historically in the franchise since 1900.

On Monday, in Denver, Ohtani hit a single to right field in the third inning against Rockies pitcher José Quintana, extending his record. With this outstanding streak, the Japanese player is approaching second place, currently held by Shawn Green, who achieved 53 games in the year 2000. The organization’s record belongs to Duke Snider, a Hall of Fame member, with 58 consecutive games in 1954. Ohtani’s streak began on August 24, 2025, and since then, he has surpassed significant historical milestones.
  • Ron Cey (47 games)
  • Willie Keeler (50 games)
Furthermore, Ohtani maintains a notable dominance against Colorado, having reached base in 35 consecutive games against the Rockies. He also has 14 straight games with a hit against that rival and has hit in 20 consecutive appearances at Coors Field. Another relevant milestone came this year, when he surpassed Ichiro Suzuki’s streak of 43 games reaching base, setting the longest record for a player born in Japan. The absolute record in the Major Leagues is held by Ted Williams, who reached base in 84 consecutive games in 1949.
