Lando Norris Dominates First Free Practice in Hungary

McLaren’s British driver, Lando Norris, proved his worth in the first free practice of the Hungarian Grand Prix, setting the best time with 1:16.052. Norris led much of the session, surpassing his teammate, Oscar Piastri, who finished just 19 thousandths of a second behind, with a time of 1:16.071.

Charles Leclerc of Ferrari placed third with a time of 1:16.269.

After the first fast laps by Piastri, Hamilton and Russell, Norris took the lead, completing 25 laps and being the first to break the one minute and 17 seconds barrier, recording 1:16.837.

Isack Hadjar, from Racing Bulls, surprised by placing in fourth position with a time of 1:16.681, surpassing Lewis Hamilton and Oliver Bearman.

Carlos Sainz finished in fifteenth position, one second and 143 milliseconds behind Norris’s time, while evaluating the updates for this circuit.

Fernando Alonso was replaced by Felipe Drugovich due to back problems of the Asturian driver. Drugovich placed in 16th position, one second and 217 thousandths of a second behind the best time.

Franco Colapinto, with Alpine, finished in 18th position with a time of 1:17.464, one second and 412 thousandths behind Norris.

Paul Aron, replacing Nico Hulkenberg at Sauber, suffered an exit at Turn 13, which caused the Virtual Safety Car. Aron completed nine laps, setting a time of 1:19.788.
