Key Recommendation: New Baseball Stadium in La Fe

The Consultative Commission, appointed by President Luis Abinader, has issued a crucial recommendation for the future of baseball in the Dominican Republic. The organization suggests the construction of a new stadium in the La Fe neighborhood, a facility that meets Major League Baseball (MLB) standards. This proposal arises from a strategic alliance between the Dominican government and the private sector, promising a significant modernization for national sports. The recommendation was made during a key meeting on Thursday, February 5th, following an exhaustive analysis of technical studies and collected testimonies. The commission, created with the purpose of evaluating the project’s feasibility, concluded that a new stadium is the best option to meet the demands of modern professional baseball and international requirements. During the meeting, it was assured that the execution of this project will not impact the facilities of the Carlos Teo Cruz Boxing Coliseum. The Consultative Commission, established by Decree 306-25, is composed of prominent figures, including Dr. Milton Ray Guevara Subero Isa, who chairs it, the Minister of Sports Kelvin Cruz, Catalino Correa Hiciano, Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, the jurists Olivo Rodríguez Huertas, Angélica Noboa Pagán, Elka Scheker Mendoza, Julissa Vásquez, and Edgar Torres Reynoso, who acts as executive director. Since its formation, the commission has maintained an active agenda, holding meetings with various sectors linked to professional baseball. The objective is to listen to their perspectives and contributions. This consultation work will continue in future meetings, as part of the final analysis and recommendation process.
