Nathalia Novas Shines at the Weightlifting Championship
The outstanding Dominican athlete, Nathalia Novas, won a silver medal and two bronze medals at the Central American and Caribbean Weightlifting Championship. The event took place in the José Joaquín Puello Pavilion, located in the Parque del Este of Santo Domingo. Novas demonstrated his skill in the 63-kilogram division, achieving silver in the snatch and bronze in both the clean and jerk and the total. The competition was dominated by the Colombian Karen Mosquera, who was crowned absolute champion and established two new Pan American records.The athlete from Barahona won the bronze medal in the snatch with a lift of 98 kilos. In the clean and jerk, she secured the silver medal with 123 kilos, and added another bronze in the total with 221 kilos. The championship, dedicated to Luis Mejía Oviedo, member of the International Olympic Committee and president of Centro Caribe Sports, is the first test event and only qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. These Centennial games will be held on Dominican soil from July 24 to August 8 of next year.Thank God I am back in my 63-kilogram category. I am very happy to win medals for my country and in front of our people.

Karen Mosquera Unstoppable
The Colombian Keren Mosquera stood out in the competition, securing the title from the first rounds. Mosquera, 21 years old, won gold with lifts of 108 and 130 kilos in the snatch and clean and jerk, respectively, totaling 238 kilos.After Mosquera, the competition focused on the fight between Novas and the Venezuelan Anyelin Venegas, who won silver in the snatch with 103 kilos and in the total with 223 kilos. The Mexican Janet Gómez took the bronze in the clean and jerk with a lift of 121 kilos.I have achieved the objectives. Now I just have to keep working hard to improve those records.
